THREAT TYPE
Image Based Attack
An Image Based Attack is a form of impersonation where the attacker embeds the call to action or malicious payload within an inline image file as part of the email to avoid detection by legacy gateway tools or natural language processing AI solutions.
AI BASED THREAT DETECTION
Tessian AI Explained
Tessian uses an ensemble of AI based approaches because it's the only way to defend against advanced phishing attacks, and protect against sensitive data loss on email. Through behavioral, content and threat network analysis, Tessian AI automatically adjusts as our customers hire, acquire, and adapt.
Behavioral Detection
Detects Anomalous Behavior
Although the email appears to be text based, all content is actually contained within the attached jpg file, which is unusual. This is an attempt to bypass text focused detection features such as Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing.
Behavioral Detection
Detects Anomalous Content
Optical Character Recognition (OCR) enables the extraction of text from images, allowing Machine Learning and Natural Language processing to detect anomalous content such as urgent calls to action and financial terms.
Behavioral Detection
Detects Anomalous Image
Perceptual Hashing analyzes image similarity and is specifically helpful in detecting misuse, or impersonation, of well known and trusted brand logos. The brand logo used in this image based attack does not have the same perceptual hash, or image fingerprint, as expected for this specific brand.
“Tessian stops email threats, including Phishing, Business Email Compromise and attacks which could lead to Ransomware or Credential theft on a daily basis. Without Tessian, these threats would've reached our end users.”
Simple stack that deploys in minutes
Tessian is built to augment Microsoft and Google, allowing you to enhance your investments and move beyond your secure email gateway. Tessian is deployed in minutes through native API integrations, add-ins or mail gateway.
